1-A reasonable design of bucket products is the major foundation

Plastic buckets are widely used in food, chemical, medical packaging and other industries. As an example of food packaging, the design of the plastic bucket needs to consider the sealing, anti-theft, drop effect, stacking effect, etc.

2-Key points of the bucket mould design

1) Gate design

The gate position of the bucket mold is relatively fixed, mainly in the center of the bottom of the bucket. Recently, considering the production efficiency and cost-effective, most of the buckets are hot runner injection molding. There are two main types of hot runner options, one is  the hot runner or the needle valve hot runner. The other is the choice of hot runner brands, such as domestic hot runner, Yudo, Husky, Master.

2) Design of the cooling line

The design of cooling line of bucket mold should be decided by bucket size and wall-thickness. The cooling line hole is too small and the cooling is not timely, which will easily cause the mold not to cool in time, and lead to the product surface with heat corona affecting the product appearance.
Therefore, it is necessary to adopt multi-loop cooling design, which can not only allows the mold to cool down quickly but also evenly at the same time.

3) Design of mold structure

The structure of the bucket mold is mainly according to the design of the product. The most common bucket on the market is the circular bucket. In order to save the cost of the mold, some mold manufacturers will make the circular mold structure which will save some money on mould steel and mould processing but will reduce the quality and life of the mould. However, FOW Mould always insisted on square mould to make sure the mold is strong enough to have the expected mold life.

3-Selection of mould steel

Steel hardness, toughness and processing costs are all need to be considered when select the bucket mould steel.
These steels are usually P20, 718, 718H, H13, 2344, Becu, which need to be tested by a spectrometer to make sure it is the correct steel we ordered before processing and fabrication. As for the selection of these steels, it depends on the cost budget and service life of different customers.

4-Requirements for processing equipment

The processing equipment of bucket mould is mainly CNC, Lathe and EDM. Good equipment can process the mould more accurately according to the drawing, and the processed parts need to do the CMM to see if it is within the tolerance.

5-Experience in making bucket mould

The shape of the bucket looks similar, the majority of mold manufacturers can do bucket molds, but not many can do a good job, the main difference is in the details experience.

6-Requirements of injection molding machine for bucket mold

The most important thing for the production of bucket mold injection molding machine is the opening stroke. Recently, the vast majority of bucket is require the in mold labeling (IML), which require robots to stick the film and pick up the parts. So the opening stroke is generally about 2.5-3 times the height of the bucket.
